Rosa Parks Day (December 1, 2021)

Today, we commemorate Rosa Parks and her bravery on December 1st.

“Stand for something or you will fall for anything. Today’s mighty oak is yesterday’s nut that held its ground.”

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks changed history. She is often talked about as someone who simply refused to give up her seat. However, she was far from new to activism. In 1944, she spearheaded the NAACP’s investigation into the rape of Recy Taylor. Fast forward a decade, and her steadfast activism served as the impetus for the Montgomery bus boycott, which then germinated into the civil rights movement.
