LGBT History Month 2022

October is LGBT History Month!

#LGBTHistoryMonth is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. It was founded in 1994 by Missouri high school history teacher Rodney Wilson.

The NAACP defends the civil rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals of all colors. In order to understand this, we need to understand the term of intersectionality – the combination of races, classes, ages, and genders that make up our unique identities (and how they tend to compound inequity and so on). October marks LGBT History Month. From James Baldwin to Marsha P. Johnson, we celebrate all the brave individuals and groups that have continued to stand up for LGBTQIA+ rights. There is a thread that connects our goals. This can be seen, for example, in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.
